The annual 10,000 push-up challenge means doing 10,000 push-ups during February any way you want — solo at a little over 300 a day, as a team splitting the reps, or racing to finish fast — and registration is open now at the website ahead of the February 1 start.
On this special Physical Friday, the last Friday before February 1, I open registration for our annual 10,000 push-up challenge. The rules are simple: do 10,000 push-ups and you are done. The whole point is taking something that seems impossible and figuring out a way to get it done — because motivation gets you started and discipline carries you across the finish line.
Listen now: press play in the player above and follow along.
It is 10,000 push-ups total during the month of February. Done individually across the 28 days, that is a little more than 300 push-ups a day. The rules are easy: do 10,000 push-ups, any way you want, and you are done. You can split them evenly day by day, do a big batch over a few days and rest, or push to finish as fast as possible. Many people who have done it with us did not think they could — and they completed it.
Sign up at tomrowlandpodcast.com — there is a place to register for the 10,000 push-up challenge. Put your email in so we can keep in touch over the course of the month. Some of the sponsors have offered gifts for participants, and registering also gets you a certificate at the end if I have your email. You can also text the word push-ups to the show text thread at 305-930-7346 to make contact there.
Spread them across each day. If you do 50 after you get up and 50 after breakfast, you are at 100; 50 before lunch and 50 after puts you at 200; 50 before dinner and 50 after makes 300; then 25 before bed gets you to 325. You can do them in sets of 10 or any way you want. Some people knock out a thousand a day for ten days and finish early. The point is figuring out how to get it done — it takes motivation to start and discipline to finish.
Yes. You can pair up or form a team of any number and divide the 10,000 push-ups any way you want. That makes the daily count much more manageable and adds accountability and fun. The challenge is flexible by design — individually it is a little over 300 a day, but with a partner or group you split that load however works for everyone involved.
The whole purpose is to take something that seems impossible and figure out a way to get it done. Plenty of people have told me they have never done 10,000 push-ups in their life — and then they break it into manageable chunks across the day and finish. It is a great reminder of the difference between motivation and discipline: motivation gets you started, but discipline takes you across the finish line. That lesson carries far beyond push-ups.
It starts February 1 and runs through the month. This episode drops on the last Friday before February 1, so now is the time to register at tomrowlandpodcast.com and get ready. I will also be doing push-ups live on Instagram so you can join me on the story, and there will be a certificate waiting at the end if I have your email. Good luck — just get the 10,000 push-ups in, however you choose to do it.
The 10,000 push-up challenge is genuinely fun for me because I have heard from so many people who completed it and never believed they could. There are so many ways to get there — solo, as a team, or racing to finish fast — and watching people solve a problem that looked impossible is the whole reward. I share how to approach it and what is in it for participants in the episode, so press play in the player above.
Here is how to register and finish the challenge. I cover the details in the episode.
I unpack each of these in the episode. Press play in the player above.
The number scares people until you do the math out loud. Fifty after you wake up, fifty after breakfast, fifty around each meal, a few before bed — and you have spread a few hundred reps across a day without ever grinding. Do that through February and 10,000 takes care of itself. Some folks instead blitz a thousand a day for ten days. I walk through the different ways to get it done in the episode, so press play in the player above.
This challenge is the clearest example I know. Motivation will get you off the couch on February 1, fired up to start. It is discipline that puts you on the floor on day 19 when you are tired and would rather not. Taking something that seems impossible and finishing it anyway is exactly the muscle this builds. I get into why that matters beyond push-ups in the episode, so press play in the player above.
Take something that looks impossible, break it into pieces, and figure out a way to get it done — that is the entire spirit of this challenge.
The 10,000 push-up challenge starts February 1. Register at tomrowlandpodcast.com, text push-ups to 305-930-7346, and join me live on Instagram. Press play in the player above.
